Bowel Cancer New Zealand

Bowel cancer is the second highest cause of cancer death in New Zealand.

It kills as many New Zealanders as breast and prostate cancer combined, and it can affect anyone at any age. But it is treatable – and beatable – if it’s detected early enough.

Bowel Cancer New Zealand supports those living with bowel cancer and their families; educating communities and raising awareness of bowel cancer symptoms; advocating for nationwide screening; and funding research into treatments, and ultimately, a cure.

About the Shoot

Photographing my subjects in their homes I used an architectural thread to tie the shoots together. I wanted to use the window as symbol of reflection, both visually & internally.

It was a beautiful experience photographing these woman. The stories of their loved ones flowed in conversation & memory throughout each shoot & really set the tone for the images.

My intention was to empower & inspire my subjects & the viewer with meaningful moments of presence.
